The worst. Literally the worst. Literally the WORST textbook I've ever had in my life. So much useless fluff that you don't need to be reading. I feel like 99% of this book was just a complete waste of time and brain space. "There is no I in team, and this is very important to note" actual quote out of the book. If you have to get this book for your class, I'm sorry. I could probably write a whole other book about how terrible this book is. It even said Freud was alive during the 18th century... ARE YOU SERIOUS???Good Rental Price Good rental price for a full semester, considering it's about $90 at best to buy new everywhere I looked. Amazon gives a good amount of time to return it-they seem to be in sync with when semesters generally end.Mine still has the access code unused (score!) and moderate highlighting. Amazon doesn't guarantee that the access code will be unused/unpeeled-if your professor requires this then look elsewhere because it's luck of the draw. I also like that you can return at end of semester with free shipping label from your account. As for this book, it's pretty dry-but required so no choice. #nursingschoolAWFUL, at any price, for any edition. RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!! I found the implication that there are too many "white" and "female" nurses rather offensive (ch 3, pg 99, "The White Female Face of Nursing: It Needs to Change.")Additionally, I found it rather disgusting that the author QUOTED HERSELF, from another book she authored, as a reference!! Seriously? She did this in a few chapters- one was simply not enough!Depending on the chapter, you might get some information that spans from great to average. (Put your money on average.)There is a HUGE conflict when she writes about Evidence Based Practice (EBP) on page 339. The book states "Research done for research's sake, without ever influencing clinical research or making it into practice, might as well not be done." Uhhhhh. Yeah, so Finkelman is a dummy and does not understand that TRUE scientific or medical exploration gains as much from the failures as from the successes.If your school insists this is a required book- FIND ANOTHER SCHOOL.
