We give our girls syllabi and curriculums for their education. We make them playbooks for their athletics. What do we give them to support their growth through life? This book is a collection of experiences and wisdom to help girls with navigating all of it: school, athletics, and life. Women share letters on what they would tell their younger selves or another young girl about the journey; this book will remind you of your power and that you are never alone.“That is exactly what DEAR HER is… A group of women who gathered their tools, put them in a place where others can see them and turned on the light bulb of decision. Their voices are passionate, strong, and experienced. As I turned each page, I was so grateful for these women sharing their stories. I could feel them taking up space in my mind and in my heart. I wanted to wake up my 13-year-old daughter and read these essays to her. I wanted to listen to her and see where she may have wasted some seconds to let in some unkind, unnecessary, and untrue thoughts; and then find a way to ease them out.” –Nicole Ari Parker, actress and Gymwrap creator

Great Book for All Ages, Genders, Athletes, and Non-Athletes Dear Her is for everyone. The book is so easy to read and answers all the questions young athletes think but don't verbalize. The raw experiences that are shared in this book carry some of the most important lessons a young athlete can and should learn. Today more than ever, the true meaning of sports, why we play, and what we work for can be lost. Parents and coaches put so much emphasis on winning and their child being the star that they forget the part of sports that builds character, establishes life-long relationship, and helps kids grow into well-rounded adults. Even though I no longer compete as an athlete in organized events I still consider myself an athlete, as I will for the rest of my life. Life is a sport and we learn from the times that push and test us the most. I hope that people of all ages and genders read this book in order to help uncover for themselves why they play a sport and what a magical experience they have ahead of them. Thank you to Leslie and her team for putting together such an amazing piece of work. I wish I had the opportunity to read this when I was a young athlete. GREAT READ!Inspiring read for women, men, girls & boys! From someone who doesn’t read inspirational reads! I never read books like this... this one is different!!! Turning these pages takes me back to some of my most exciting days thus far- the days I was at my physical peak, where I played for myself but even more so for my teammates, where nothing else in the world mattered but leaving it all on the floor! I can taste the Gatorade and feel the emotions! If only I had read this book at 13... Although reading it now reminds me now that if you aren’t giving life everything you have, if you aren’t leaving it out on the floor, then you need to find something you are passionate about because life is too short! Wow thanks DEAR HER for the inspiration I didn’t even realize I needed!DEAR HER Lifts Up and Encourages the Dreams of High School Women I love DEAR HER because it is written to lift up and encourage the dreams and leadership strengths of high school women. What if YOU wrote a letter to YOUR younger self, giving the compassion, understanding, and advice you needed back then? Watch what happens as your advice to YOUR OWN "Dear Her" begins to manifest itself in your life. Many of these letters are written with a sports or athletic theme. However, if you insert your own interest or passion, the message is the same. Here are a few of my favorite quotes, and there are many, many more:"Get a mentor. . . Nobody is truly self-made; ask for help when you need it and find people to walk with you." --Julia Eyre"FEEL so that you can move through. FEEL so that you can stand taller. FEEL so you can heal. Feeling does not make you a victim, it makes you human" --Dr. Jen Esquer". . . the easy way in high school will become the long way in college." --Justyce Dawson"My message for you, DEAR HER, is to have a plan for your life, and be aware that the unexpected is going to happen. Learn to handle change. . . And be sure to have some fun!" --Kelli Watson
